A NOTE FROM JEROME ROSE
The International Keyboard Institute & Festival is now preparing for its 14th season to take place July 15-29, 2012 at Mannes College. In 2012 we will continue to present 28 concert events, including the young artist Prestige Series and the evening Masters Series concerts. In addition, IKIF will be celebrating the Debussy 150th Anniversary Year throughout the Festival. Over 150 video clips of past Festival events are posted on YouTube, and IKIF now has a Facebook page. Both the YouTube clips and Facebook page can be accessed directly or through links on our website at
www.ikif.org.
The Prestige Series at 6:00 pm will feature accomplished young artists from around the world, each just at the beginning of an international career, many of them recent winners of major international competitions including the Cleveland, World Piano, Géza Anda, China-Xiamen, Cliburn, Concert Artists Guild, IKIF’s own MacKenzie Award, Honens, Hilton Head, and the International Beethoven Competition.
The Masters Series at 8:30 pm will feature Guest Artists and Faculty. This year the Guest Artist Faculty includes distinguished pianists Marc-André Hamelin, Cyprien Katsaris, Akiko Ebi, and Denis Kozhukhin. Revisiting this year’s Masters Series will be Massimiliano Ferrati (Faculty 1999), Nikolai Demidenko (Faculty 2006) and Alon Goldstein (Faculty 2010). Returning performing faculty include Alexander Kobrin, Yuan Sheng, Jeffrey Swann, and HaeSun Paik. David Dubal will appear again with his very popular evening of lecture and live performance, this year focusing on the life and work of Claude Debussy. Mid-Festival he will host Eva & Alina Rubinstein in a free Sunday afternoon event honoring the life of their father, Arthur Rubinstein.
Founder/Director Jerome Rose will perform the opening concert.
Since 1999 the Festival has attracted students from around the world who have the opportunity to attend the Festival to study with Faculty Artists, participate in masterclasses, and attend concerts and lectures given by some of the world’s best-known pianists and scholars.
Last season we offered over 50 scholarships to participants of merit worldwide who seek out IKIF for an intensive two weeks of masterclasses, concerts, and lectures on the art of the piano. We are committed to keeping tuition and ticket prices low in order to serve the community. As a non-profit 501(c) 3 publicly funded charity, IKIF can continue only if it is supported by the general public. We invite you to support IKIF with your donation to support our mission. In these difficult financial times your contribution, in any amount, is very much appreciated and is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. If you would like to become a Festival Friend, please make your donation by check payable to INTERNATIONAL KEYBOARD INSTITUTE & FESTIVAL and mail to the address below. All contributions will be acknowledged and posted on our website.
We look forward to seeing you at this year's Festival, and thank you for your support.
Cordially,
Jerome Rose
